Back in May we held another of our Local Food
Heroes Suppers. Well attended by many regulars and new faces locally and as far
as London. Our Food Heroes for the evening were Simon & Grania Philips from
nearby Colleton Manor where they rear & show their fabulous award-winning
heard of Red Ruby Devon Beef and sell boxes of their beef direct from the farm
throughout the UK - www.colletonredrubydevon.co.uk
Obviously their succulent beef featured on the menu for the evening along with
some fabulous sea bass and many of the great spring vegetables we can enjoy in
May; either cultivated or foraged from the wild. If you’d like to see the menu
we served simply click through into our menu section. Our next Local Food
Heroes Supper will be in October and we are already taking bookings so please
contact us if you’re interested.
At the beginning of June we had our beautiful
new beer engines installed by local craftsman Stephen Simmonds of Molland - www.stephensimmonds.co.uk Stephen has already made some beautiful
furniture for us and has now lent his hand to crafting a beautiful plinth of
burr-Elm and contrasting handles of wood from oak, elm and pear. A great focal point
for the bar and those who enjoy our excellent west country ales.
We are now stocking Cornish Lager from
Skinners of Truro. This lager has real flavour and Skinners knowledge of making
beer is evident in the taste. This has proved itself as a very popular
addition too.
There are some new dishes coming on the menu
soon for the summer so please scan our online menus for the new dishes or
simply come to the Grove and sample them.
The summer never seems complete without some
Morris Dancing and this year is no exception. On Tuesday 22nd June
the Winkleigh & Borderline Morris will be here at the Grove. They’ll be
dancing outside from around 8pm and then no doubt inside for a sing-a-long at
the bar.
